繰り返し行うことで身についた行動、思考、感情のパターン。良い習慣や悪い習慣、「癖」と呼ばれる無意識の行動など、広範な状況で用いられます。

• She has a good habit of waking up early. — 彼女は早起きをする良い習慣がある。
• Smoking is a bad habit that is difficult to break. — 喫煙はやめるのが難しい悪い習慣だ。
• It takes time to form a new habit. — 新しい習慣を身につけるには時間がかかる。
• He has a nervous habit of biting his nails. — 彼には緊張すると爪を噛むという神経質な癖がある。

（主に受動態で）人や動物を特定の行動や状況に慣れさせること、または習慣づけること。やや形式的または古風な表現です。

• The prolonged solitude had habited him to introspection. — 長引く孤独は彼を内省することに慣れさせていた。
• She was habited to the cold climate from an early age. — 彼女は幼い頃から寒い気候に慣らされていた。
• The harsh training habited the soldiers to difficult conditions. — 厳しい訓練は兵士たちを困難な状況に慣れさせた。
